Police appeal for information following sex assault
Police have launched an appeal for information following the rape of a 20-year-old woman in the Newtownabbey area.
A police spokesperson said they were seeking information about a man seen in the Bellvue area of the Upper Whitewell Road between 10.30pm on Wednesday evening or 4.00am on Thursday morning.
The man is described as between 22 and 25 year old, five feet seven inches to five feet eight inches tall with short black hair and a scar on the back of his head.
He was wearing the away version of the Liverpool football shirt which is white with yellow writing.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact detectives at the CARE unit at Newtownabbey on 9065 0222.

Police have said they believe missing Omagh man, Shane Sharkey, has been found in the Republic of Ireland. A police appeal for help in finding the 35-year-old has been cancelled, with police saying they now believe they know where he is. No further details have been released but police thanked the public for their help.

Police in Newtownabbey have appealed for information following an armed robbery in the town earlier this afternoon. Just before midday, a man brandishing a knife approached a cash delivery guard on the Farmley Road and demanded that he hand over a cash box.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Police and the family of 30-year-old Hugh McKay are becoming increasingly concerned for his safety. Mr McKay was last seen after he left his home in the Dundarve estate in Bushmills at around 11.30pm yesterday evening. Two rescue teams are currently searching the area, while a coastguard helicopter carried out an overnight aerial search.

Police in Larne are becoming increasingly concerned about the welfare of 38-year-old Ian Black. Mr Black has not been seen since he left work on the Shore Road area of Newtownabbey at around 7pm on Tuesday evening. The following day, his blue coloured Ford Focus type car was found abandoned close to a forest in the Shaneshill Road in Larne.
