Suspected cases of foot-and-mouth given all clear
Two suspected cases of foot-and-mouth have been given the all clear by Northern Ireland's Department of Agriculture.
The cases, which resulted in the closure of the Linden food processing plant in Dungannon on Thursday, came after two animals were found with suspected symptoms of the disease.
Department vets, who examined both the animals and the farm they came from said they were satisfied they did not have the disease.
Speaking before the farm had been given the all clear, Agriculture Minister Bríd Rodgers said the closure was "a precautionary measure".
The government recently launched an independent inquiry into the outbreak of the disease in the province earlier this month.
Since the outbreak of foot and mouth earlier in the year there have been 1,936 cases of foot-and-mouth across the UK, with 3,701,000 animals slaughtered. (MB)
