More Catholics in local workforce
A new survey by the Equality Commission has revealed that there are more Roman Catholics in the local workforce than ever before.
The report revealed that 42 per cent of the workforce was Roman Catholic compared to 39.6 per cent last year.
The most significant change in the workforce however was the minority community share in professional and sales jobs, which has increased by 10.1 per cent and 8.9 per cent in the last decade.
However, there is still under representation in the security services sector for Catholics with only one in 20 men employed in security-related jobs compared with over a third of Protestants.
The report also revealed that the percentage of women in the workplace has increased by nearly three per cent in the last ten years. More than half of these were Roman Catholic. (MB)
