Minister appoints top jobs for Northern Ireland’s four health trusts
The top job positions heading Northern Ireland’s health trusts have been filled according to the Department of Health and Social Services and Public Safety.
The health minister Bairbre de Brún announced on Monday August 20 that she has appointed four people to chair to Health and Social Services (HSS) Trusts in the greater Belfast area.
All the appointments in the Down Lisburn, the Mater Infirmorum Hospital, North and West Belfast and South and East Belfast trusts run for a period of four years and are effective as of September 1 2001.
The appointments are: Denise Mary Fitzsimons BSSc RGN, as Chair of Down Lisburn Health and Social Services Trust; Lady Anne Bernadette McCollum CBE DL, as Chair of the Mater Infirmorum Hospital Health and Social Services Trust; Mr Patrick McCartan, as Chair of North and West Belfast Health and Social Services Trust and Mr Robin Ramsey Harris, as Chair of South and East Belfast Health and Social Services Trust. Health Deficit Falling: McGimpsey
While local health trust deficits have reduced significantly, the Health and Social Care service (HSC) is still facing major financial difficulties. The NI Health Minister, Michael McGimpsey said that, at the end of September, the six trusts had combined deficits of around £76million.
