Adams In Court Over Sex Abuse Charges

The brother of Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams is due to appear in court today after being extradited from the Republic back to Northern Ireland following sexual abuse charges.

The Gardai handed over Liam Adams to PSNI officers in the Northern Ireland last night.

Mr Adams will appear in court in relation to 18 alleged offences against his daughter, Aine Tyrell, who has waived her right to anonymity.

It is nearly three years ago that the media alleged the 56-year-old had abused his daughter.

In December 2009, a UTV programme claimed that Liam Adams had sexually abused his daughter for a period spanning about a decade.
