NI Water Needs 'Stability', Says Spratt
A call for stability at NI Water has been made after news that the company's acting head is planning to resign.
Jimmy Spratt, the Chair of Stormont's Regional Development committee said: "Stability is needed I think given the changes that have been made."
He said: "One of the issues we will be pressing is that there will be some sort of continuity and leadership at this level, particularly over the winter period.
The company’s boss, Trevor Haslett has reigned from the position after less than a year. It is thought that Mr Haslett wants to return to private consultancy.
The previous Northern Ireland Water boss Lawrence MacKenzie stood down amidst damning criticism of the company's handling of the water shortages during the big freeze last winter.
Mr Haslett’s resignation is said to have taken NI Water executives and directors by surprise and emergency meetings were held yesterday.
