Carrick Credit Card Jobs To Go
There are to be 100 redundancies at the MBNA credit card facility in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim.
A buyer is still being sought for the site after the bank's announcement earlier this year that it was getting out of the credit card business in Ireland and the UK.
Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton said last month that there was strong interest by several parties in taking over the business in Carrick-on-Shannon. The facility employs 750 people.
Bank of America said that the cuts announced would be voluntary, where possible. The bank is also cutting 150 jobs in the UK.
It said most of the positions being cut were in the collections area, where staff in Carrick-on-Shannon had been supporting the UK card business, and that this work would now be done from the UK.
