New Tesco Promises Bumper Christmas
There's plenty of Christmas shopping in store today with a new state-of-the-art Tesco Extra store opening its doors at the Northcott Shopping Centre, Glengormley.
Some 175 new jobs will be created to complement the existing staff of 170, and in total, 120 new permanent posts and 55 new temporary posts will be created.
Tesco is the anchor tenant of the centre, which reopens today having closed in April for redevelopment. At more than 60,00 sq ft, the new Tesco Extra store is around double the size of the previous supermarket on the site.
The development includes a Tesco petrol filling station, Tesco café and a Medicare chemist, with tenants for two additional units still to be secured.
Stephen Cochrane from Tesco Northern Ireland said: "We are delighted to be announcing the creation of 175 jobs at the new Northcott Tesco Extra and are also looking forward to welcoming back our employees from the old store who have temporarily been working in other Tesco stores close by awaiting the exciting rebuild.
"The new Tesco Extra is twice the size of the previous store and offers an extensive range of products across numerous departments from food to fashion.
"In addition to dvds, cds and games software, the store also has an extensive electronics range including ipads, iphones, TVs and game consoles, plus an electrical payment plan which you can find out about in store - all ideal for Christmas," he enthused.
"We have added a petrol filling station which ensures that local people are being offered among the most competitive fuel prices in the area, and with over 500 free parking spaces available, plus 24-hour trading, customers can enjoy convenient shopping at this new destination superstore this Christmas," he added.
