Art Glass Scoops Titanic Contract
Art Glass, artists in glass a specialised stained glass design company has been commissioned to research, design and manufacture a dome to match the huge stained glass dome over the main staircase that was situated in R.M.S Titanic.
This enormous decorative glass dome which was made famous in the film was the centre piece of the interior décor of the great ship allowing light to penetrate into the magnificent interiors of the first class sections.
Art Glass where awarded the contract after seeing off fierce international opposition for the prestigious contract which is believed to be the biggest new decorative dome designed in this part of the world since Victorian times.
After completion the Titanic Dome will be incorporated into the new Iconic Titanic Belfast for Harcourt Construction, the design & build contractors of the Titanic Belfast site in Belfast.
The company's latest success was welcomed by Philip and Sinead Coyle, the husband and wife team who run the highly successful design studio.
"This Titanic dome is an immensely impressive project which will be a draw for tourists from around the world," said the Coyles.
"It shows the superb design and production skills to be found here locally at Art Glass where there is unrivalled expertise which can deliver a range of applications using modern materials in all settings it is essential that local companies are recognised for the expertise, experience and skills base that they bring to developing and delivering such high standards as in the interiors of the original Titanic."
