Olympics Hopeful From Derry Suspended
An Olympic hopeful from County Londonderry has been suspended from his college swim team after violating team rules. Twenty –two year old Ryan Harrison who is on a swimming scholarship at the University of Tennessee has released a statement in which he denies taking any illegal substances. Mr Harrison has been suspended from the swim team for the rest of the season. The reason for his suspension remains unclear.
Man Dies Following Co. Armagh Crash
A man has died following a road crash in Co Armagh.The accident occurred on the Ballyvally Road near Loughgilly around 4.45pm yesterday.Police said the victim was in his 50s. He has not yet been named.An articulated lorry was involved in the accident, which resulted in the road being closed for several hours last night.Police have appealed for information.
Hundreds Of Gaps In Belfast Nursing Rota
A report by the BBC has revealed that they have obtained figures that show hundreds of gaps left unfilled in nursing rota’s in Belfast hospitals over the last month. According to the broadcaster 558 gaps in the nursing rota appeared in a consecutive four-week period. Worst affected was the Royal Victoria hospital then Belfast City Hospital, the Mater then followed by Musgrave Park Hospital. Royal Victoria hospital topped the charts with 359 gaps between December 1 and January 2.
