Ex-Policeman Fined £10K For Misusing PSNI Computer
A former PSNI officer has been fined almost £10,000 after misusing a police database to access information.
Forty-nine year old Alan Marchini used the database to look up information including records of a girlfriend and of a man who accused him of assault.
It was heard in Belfast Crown Court today that Mr Marchini accessed the record’s system 36 times without authorisation during a four-year period.
It is understood that the former police officer used the system to gain information on a man who accused him of common assault only hours before being questioned about the allegations.
He also used the database to look up information about a former girlfriend and family members.

Detectives have renewed an appeal for information following a deliberate arson attack at a vacant property in the Weaver's Grange area of Newtownards. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 17 November, 2023. Police and firefighters were called to the scene at around 12:40am.

An officer was shot at a petrol station on the Crumlin Road at around 7.30pm on Sunday, 22 January. Detectives have revisited the scene to prompt recollections of local people about what happened.

Tourists touch down to International welcome
A new Tourist Information Centre (TIC) was opened at Belfast International Airport on Monday. Opened as a pilot project last June by the Belfast Visitor & Convention Bureau (BVCB), the TIC has now been expanded because of an increase in air access and the subsequent demand from those looking for visitor information.
