Residents Evacuated From Highrise Following Fire
Residents have been rescued from a high-rise block of flats after a fire broke out in the housing complex in Newtownabbey.
It is understood that fourteen floors had to be evacuated in the early hours of the morning after a blaze at the Woodland flats at Whitehouse.
Policy say the fire broke out on the first floor with officers forcing entry into a number of flats to evacuate residents.
A local coach driver helped transport the occupants to a local leisure centre where they were accommodated by Newtownabbey council staff.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious and no one was injured in the fire.
