EEBPP issue call for energy proposals
The Energy Efficiency Best Practice Programme (EEBPP) has announced it is to make funds available for further research and development on energy-efficient technology and have issued a call to interested parties to get involved in the process.
The programme will seek proposals for feasibility studies into investigating the potential for practical, innovative, energy-efficient, low-carbon emission technologies for industry and buildings. It also plans to support projects that have advanced beyond the feasibility stage, where there is a high degree of innovation or where major carbon and energy savings are achievable.
With no size restriction on participating UK registered companies, the EEBPP plan to support each project by up to £20,000 with the remainder being provided by industry. The EEBPP say that in particular cases, larger sums of money may be available for more developed projects requiring greater financial support.
On successful completion of a feasibility study, there may be opportunities for funding further development under the auspices of the EEBPP.
Anyone submitting an outline proposal need to do so by Friday 28th September 2001 and should include market need, proposed innovation, how it will get to market, how it will save energy, the project team and who does what and how much it will cost. (MB)

Sitting MEP Bairbre de Brún has claimed the Northern Ireland Executive could exploit EU funding better, in order to support the local construction industry. Ms de Brún, speaking at a Fermanagh Employment Conference, said the devolved government at Stormont could use EU funds to part-finance a programme of energy efficiency renovations.
