Empey launches report on Social Economy Programme
Minister for Enterprise Trade and Investment, Sir Reg Empey, visited the Village area of south west Belfast on Wednesday to launch a report on the Social Economy Programme which has been delivered by the Greater Village Regeneration Trust.
Highlighting the need to focus support in particular in areas of disadvantage, the Minister said: “We have to create a culture which will bring more businesses and more employment opportunities for people, particularly in areas of disadvantage.
“The development of enterprise is not a short term fix and takes time to build. It is a task that requires constant promotion and one that is a particular objective of LEDU now, and will be a priority for the new economic development agency, Invest Northern Ireland.”
The Minister added that this process involved encouraging people with influence in the community to be positive about the benefits of enterprise as well as increasing understanding about the services that are available.
