Coffee jar bomb defused in Lurgan
The police have said an improvised coffee jar bomb found inside the perimeter fence of a County Armagh RUC station was a “reckless” attempt to endanger lives.
The device was discovered following a number of telephone warnings on Wednesday July 25.
Army bomb disposal experts at the scene conducted a controlled explosion on the device found in the RUC police station in Lurgan. However the area around the front of the RUC station remained cordoned off as the security operation continued on Wednesday afternoon.
It is believed the bomb may have been thrown at the station, in the town's North Street, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Superintendent Ian Chapman commander for the Craigavon unit area said: “This was a reckless attack and aimed at the men and omen under my command. It was carried out by terrorists whose reckless act endangered more the lives of anyone passing by more than any police officer. I appeal to the community for their help in bringing those responsible to justice.” (AMcE)

HOUSES EVACUATED AFTER PIPE BOMB FINDS
IN County Armagh 20 people had to move out of their homes after a pipe bomb was discovered at the rear of a house in Portadown. The device, discovered in Westland Road around 10.30pm on Wednesday night meant that 20 people had to leave their homes during the alert and stay in a local church hall.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Police Station Alert Discovered To Be A Hoax
A security alert has ended after a suspicious object found in a car close to an east Belfast police station was declared an "elaborate hoax". Residents in the Woodstock Road area had to evacuate their homes at about 21:00 on Sunday evening, while nearby Church services were also interrupted.

Officers Hurt In Police Station Alert
Five officers have been slightly injured following a car crash with a suspect vehicle in north Belfast. The PSNI said it happened when a car was seen to be driven in a suspicious manner at the back of Antrim Road police station at about 11pm on Thursday.

Device Planted Close To Station
A 'viable' explosive device discovered close to a police station in Strabane had the potential to cause "serious death or injury", the police have said. Local residents were evacuated from the area while Army bomb teams dealt with the device. It has now been removed for forensic examination, and those living nearby have returned to their homes.
