NI Primark Workers To Strike

Primark workers in Northern Ireland are to go on strike over a continued pay freeze.

The workers have backed a union ballot to take industrial action in protest of the pay conditions.

Primark has eight shops in Northern Ireland and employs approximately 750 people.

USDAW, the union which represents shop workers, said that its members voted by a majority of 86 % to pursue industrial action.

On average a Primark employee earns £6.84 an hour and they claim that they are finding it exceedingly difficult to make ends meet.

Workers claim that by accepting a pay freeze for the second year in a row they are essentially accepting a pay cut.

It is understood the strike action will take place in February.
