Man In Court Over Carjacking
A 19-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with a car hijacking in South Belfast. Gavin Wilson has been charged following a forensic examination of the garment seized at the scene, police said. Wilson, from Crumlin Road, was arrested in connection with the attempt to take control of a Volkswagen Golf off the Lisburn Road on January 16. He denies charges of hijacking.
New Hotel Given Green Light
Planning permission has been granted for a new hotel development in Lisburn. It is understood that the new development will be built on the Hillsborough Road and will consist of 100 bedrooms, a health suite and a function room. It is expected that the new hotel will create up to 200 jobs. However, the Northern Ireland Environmental Agency is opposed to the development because of its perceived threat to local wildlife.
Man Faces Child Abuse Charges
A 25-year-old man is to go on trial at Londonderry Crown Court to face allegations of indecent assault. Clive Cowan has been accused of indecently assaulting a six year old girl between March and April in 2002. It is understood that the accused had no relationship with the girl. The case has been adjourned until next month and the man has been released on continuing bail.

Serious Road Crash In L'Derry
A serious road crash has occurred on the Chapel Road in L'Derry. A car and a motorbike where involved in the incident, according to the police. One man, believed to be a teenager, has been taken to hospital where his injuries are believed to be serious. The road has been closed at its junctions with Newlyn Terrace and Spencer Road.

Man Arrested In Connection With Dromara Assault
A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a report of an assault at licenced premises at the Rathfriland Road area of Dromara. Detective Inspector Bell said: "Shortly before 10:10pm on Friday 15th December, it was reported that an altercation occurred at a bar in the area following three men refused entry to the premises.
