Website aims to help women entrepreneurs
An enterprising online training tool to help women set up their own business was launched in Banbridge recently.
The website, www.wanbo.org is funded by the European Commission under the Leonardo II programme and stands for Women And New Business Opportunities. The programme was developed by Banbridge District Enterprises in conjunction with its partners Instituto De Economica Publica in Spain, Instituto de Estudos Socais E Economicos in Portugal and Initiative Economic Development in Armagh. As a result the site is available in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
Ciaran Cunningham, the manager of Banbridge District Enterprises said: “WANBO is the first online training tool of its kind which identifies business opportunities in the key growth areas of Information Communications Technology (ICT), tourism, environment and personal services with examples of women from Spain, Portugal and the UK who have established businesses in these sectoral areas.
“The site also allows women to access their own entrepreneurial flair, generate ideas and make an assessment if self-employment is for them.” (AMcE)
