ATL Accepts Governments Pension Scheme Offer
ATL's Executive Committee has accepted the government's final offer for the Teachers' Pension Scheme (TPS).
The decision to accept the deal comes after a poll of members showed 91.6% of respondents support acceptance of the final offer.
ATL members in Northern Ireland and Scotland also took part in the poll as changes to the TPS will very likely be implemented in NITSS and STSS, with 89.2% and 100% of members respectively backing acceptance of the offer.
ATL president, Alice Robinson, said: "ATL members are realists. They recognise how tough times are and that the government is determined not to give any further ground. Although the government's final offer does not give us everything we wanted, it is the best deal we could get in the current economic climate. And members do not want a significantly worse deal imposed on them if they rejected this one."
