LAGAN TECHNOLOGIES SEEKS CAPITAL FOR EXPANSION

BELFAST-based software developer Lagan Technologies is currently involved in discussions to raise £3.5 million from venture capital sources to enable the company to expand its business.

The e-customer relationship management (CRM) company is believed to be in talks with both UK and Irish venture capitalists in a bid to secure new funding by the end of the summer.

The company has enjoyed considerable success since its inception in 1994. Based in Belfast it employs 50 people and has offices in Basingstoke in the UK and Korea. It recently won the Manufacturing and Tradeable Services award, organised by the Institute of Research and Technology Unit for their new product, Frontline.

The company also recently fought off stiff competition to provide Birmingham City Council with a one-stop-entry point interface between the council and the community in a contract is estimated to be worth more than £5 million.

Des Speed, Lagan’s managing director said that he is proud that the company is locally-owned, employs local talent and is now at the leading edge of a new generation of high-tech companies: “Recognition of our industry as a vital manufacturing component in our economy is a historic development. We are now exporting real expertise, real software and generating new business globally thanks to our products which are in great demand.” (AMcE)
