Talks To Resume Over UU Job Cuts
Talks are set to take place today with University of Ulster (UU) staff in regard to proposed job cuts.
The university previously announced that up to 200 posts could be made redundant as part of a rolling programme of job losses over the next four years.
Representatives from the University and College Union are due to meet senior managers later to press them for more details.
Like other third level institutions, it has had its annual budget cut and has to make savings of £10.4m a year. The university has said that they will make some of these savings by cutting staff.
The job losses represent around 6% of the university’s staffing budget- they currently employ around 3,000 staff.

University Workers Reject 'Insulting' Pay Deal
Today outside Queen's University, workers are demonstrating against a low pay offer. The current offer of a one per cent increase is 'an insult' to the hard working staff, their union Unite said, arguing that it did not match the 3.1% retail prices index and they would find it harder to buy essential goods as inflation spikes.
