Minister Invites Applications For The £300,000 Laganside Grants Fund
Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland has invited applications for a £300,000 funding package provided by the Laganside Events and Community Activity Grants schemes.
These grants are aimed at encouraging arts, cultural and community based events in Belfast’s Laganside area.
This funding covers activities taking place between 1 April 2012 and 31 March 2013 and will ensure that the area continues to offer a lively attractive and welcoming environment to the local community, businesses and tourists.
Minister McCausland said: "On the 16 February, following the Finance Minister’s announcement to make available £200,000 I announced that my department would be opening the Laganside Events Grants Scheme for 2012/13. My department is also making available a further £50,000 for Laganside events grants scheme and £50,000 to support the community activity events grant scheme.
"Today marks the opening of the application process for this year’s fund and I would encourage organisations interested in organising arts and cultural events which will contribute to the regeneration of the Laganside area, to come forward and apply for funding.
"My Department particularly welcomes applications from the community sector as we now have the prospect of at least 50 community based activities in the Laganside area by increasing the grant available per event from £300 to £1000."
