Illegal Medicines Seized Across NI
Significant amounts of unauthorised medical products worth thousands of pounds have been seized in Northern Ireland, it has been revealed.
The Medicines Regulatory Group has revealed that a number of searches particularly of Polish stores uncovered unauthorised medicines.
Peter Moore, Senior Medicines Enforcement Officer said:"We have visited a significant number of Polish convenience store outlets throughout Northern Ireland and where contraventions of the legislation for which we have a responsibility were identified, medicines were seized and shop owners have been given formal warning and advice on this occasion”.
Head of MRG, Professor Mike Mawhinney commented: “It is vital that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be dangerous and we will continue with our regulatory activities to ensure that all those selling medicines do so in strict accordance with the law.”
All offending products which were found to be unauthorised for sale in the UK will be destroyed.

Dud Animal Medicines Seized In Co Antrim
Medicines Enforcement Officers have seized substantial quantities of unauthorised and illegal veterinary medicines from a residential property in Ballymena. The drugs haul, worth several thousand pounds, included veterinary antibiotics and other veterinary medicines intended for the treatment of large numbers of farm animals.

Man Extradited From Ireland To Face Serious Charges
A 33-year-old man has been extradited from Northern Ireland to the Republic of Ireland to face serious charges. The man is accused of assault causing harm, coercive control, contravention of a safety order, theft, and possession of a weapon. The alleged offences occurred in the Monaghan area between 2020 and 2021.

Work Underway For Free Hospital Parking In Northern Ireland
Work has begun at several hospital sites across Northern Ireland as part of the preparations for the introduction of free car parking in May 2026. Health and Social Care Trusts have been actively preparing for the implementation of a new traffic management system since the Hospital Parking Charges Act was passed in 2022.
