PROGRAMME CONNECTS NI TO MARKETS ABROAD
A major new initiative aimed at boosting sales of Northern Ireland goods and services in markets throughout Britain and the Republic of Ireland was launched at Belfast City Airport on Tuesday July3.
The ‘Connections’ programme is aimed at local companies, who do not have a sustainable presence in one or more of the regional markets across Britain or the Republic of Ireland.
Under the programme up to 40 local companies will obtain assistance to target and develop business opportunities while being offered the opportunity to choose from a carefully selected pool of local graduates and dedicated sales and marketing executives.
Funded by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETI) the ‘Connections’ programme is being managed by Belfast-based Edge Innovative Learning International, one of NI’s most innovative and corporate development consultancies who deliver the DETI’s highly successful Explorers Overseas Export Marketing Programme.
Speaking at the launch Chris Buckland, Chief Executive of LEDU said: “It is vitally important for NI to seek out and develop new export markets that will translate into economic growth and new jobs and opportunity for the people of NI.”
Alan Hingston, Director of Trade International, who also attended the launch added: “The development of NI is intrinsically linked to the growth number of businesses, large and small, choosing to push their boundaries beyond NI. Through the direction and guidance provided by Edge, ‘Connections’ will provide companies with the knowledge and skills to progressively expand into new markets.”
