McWILLIAMS SECURES FIRST GRAND PRIX VICTORY
NORTHERN Ireland's Jeremy McWilliams has won his first ever Grand Prix after a nine-year wait.
The Newtownabbey rider was victorious during Saturday’s world championship race in Holland after dominating the 250cc GP to secure first place for the MS Aprilia team.
McWilliams, who started the race on the front row of the grid in fourth, quickly took the lead which he held throughout the 18-lap race, and which he finished in just over 39 minutes.
His victory moves him up to sixth in the World Championship standings after seven races with 68 points. Japan’s Daijiro Katoh currently leads the table on 136 points.
Meanwhile, Co Antrim rider Adrian Coates made it an Ulster double in Holland by claiming victory in the European 250cc Championship race.
Coates edged out previous leader Jarno Janssen from Sweden to take a one-point lead in the series. (MB)

Spokespeople for the Executive Office, Paula Bradshaw, was speaking after figures were released by the PSNI and the NI Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) in a recent report.

Additional funding will tackle race crime - Minister
NIO Minister John Spellar today revealed that £100,000 in extra funding is being made available to tackle race hate crime in Northern Ireland. Making the announcement on Thursday, Mr Spellar said the availability of additional funding demonstrated the Government's determination to respond to recent racist attacks across the province.
