Man Escapes Arson Attack

A man has escaped injury in an arson attack on a flat in Portadown, County Armagh. Police said they received a report of a fire at flat in Corcrain Avenue at about 5.30am on Monday. A PSNI spokesperson said the front door of the flat was "completely destroyed" and extensive smoke damage was caused to the building's communal hallway. The man was in the flat when the fire started but was not injured. Police have appealed for information.

Driver Injured When Brick Smashes Train Window

A train driver suffered minor injuries to his eye when a brick dropped from a bridge near Belfast smashed through the window of the Belfast to Dublin train on Tuesday night. The incident happened at Bell's Lane in Lambeg, Co Antrim after 8 pm. There were 17 passengers on the train at the time. The driver was able to complete his journey to Dublin.

Barclay Announce New 'Sticky' Mini-Credit Card

The latest contender in the fiercely fought battle to launch a digital wallet has been announced – a mini stick on credit card. Unveiled by Barclaycard, the bank is hoping that UK customers will attach the extra card to their mobile phones and use them at "contactless" terminals for everyday purchases. The stick-on card allows cardholders to spend up to £15 at certain stores, without entering a Pin. At one third the size of a regular credit card and a sticky reverse side Barclaycard have said people should stick it to the back of their mobile phone handset because most adults carry their phone with them at all times. However cardholders could attach it to a wallet or a key ring instead.It will be sent without charge to customers who request it and will come in addition to their regular credit card.

Consumer Phone Warning Issued
Local consumers are being cautioned to never disclose personal banking details over the telephone. According to advice from Consumerline issued today, a warning from British Telecom (BT) to customers, is urging them to be on their guard after a series of telephone scams involving people claiming to represent the company.

Róisín Murphy Announces Spring & Airbrake Show
Former Moloko vocalist Róisín Murphy has announced that she will play a solo show at the Spring & Airbrake on December 5. Murphy rose to fame with Mark Brydon as electronic pop duo Moloko in the 1990s.
