FAMILY ESCAPE INJURY AFTER GUN ATTACK ON HOME
TWO shots were fired through the living room window of a house in the Sunnylands estate in Carrickfergus, County Antrim, shortly after 1am on Wednesday morning.
A family, including a three-year-old child, escaped injury in the gun attack on their home in the mainly loyalist area of Carrickfergus.
A husband and wife, their 24-year-old daughter and three-year-old granddaughter were all in the house at Salia Avenue when the shooting happened. One bullet hit the sofa whilst the other ruptured the fish tank.
The family believe the attack was connected to an incident on Saturday night when they intervened to help a man who was being beaten up.
The police have confirmed that the householder did come across an incident recently whereby he saved a man's life. He was receiving a beating in the area. The family believe that is probably somebody has targeted him and his family for getting involved in that incident."
The police are keeping an open mind on the reasons behind the attack but they do not believe that the attack was sectarian. (AMcE)
