200 New Jobs For Galway Medical Firm
Leading medical devices firm Merit Medical Systems has created 200 new jobs.
The first, which makes products for use in cardiology, radiology and endoscopy, is to take on the new staff at its 20 million euro facility in Parkmore business park in Galway.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny made the announcement that will allow Merit to expand its research and development, and doubles its capacity in the region.
"It is also a significant endorsement of Ireland as a location for investment and highlights the importance of economic stability," he said.
The new staff, a third of which will be third level graduates, will be taken on over the next five years.
The company's Galway facility was established in 1996 and employs 379 people.

Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mary Harney has announced that Merit Medical Systems plans to create 230 new jobs over the next five years at its base in Galway. The medical technologies fim will invest €9.3 million in the expansion of R&D and manufacturing activities at its plant at Parkmore Business Park West.
