Four in Court Over Terrorist Firing Range
Four people have been remanded in custody, accused of terrorism offences.
Three men and one woman appeared at Omagh Magistrates Court over the weekend on charges linked to an alleged dissident republican training camp at Formil Wood on Gorticashel Road in the town.
Sharon Rafferty (37) from Cavana Linn in Pomeroy, Sean Kelly (46) from Duneane Crescent in Toomebridge, 33-year-old Terence Aidan Coney, of Malabhui Road in Omagh, and 37-year-old Gavin Coney from Gorticashel Road will appear before the court again by videolink tomorrow.
A detective said the PSNI would present witness and DNA evidence linking all four to the improvised training camp, which is alleged to have included a firing range.
In police recordings, members of the group allegedly discussed the impact of a .22 bullet on a human body.
It was alleged that about 200 rounds were heard being fired at the wood on March 30 this year and that bullet casings were recovered from the area.
Rafferty, Kelly and the Coneys are each charged with engaging in conduct in preparation for committing acts of terrorism, possession of a .22 Walther rifle and ammunition and attending a place used for terrorist training.
Rafferty and Kelly are also charged with directing the activities of a terrorist organisation, while Kelly faces a further charge of collecting information likely to be of use to terrorists.
Judge Liam McNally rejected Rafferty's application for bail.
