Ciara Conway Welcomes 65 Jobs As Dawn Meats Expands
Labour T.D. for Waterford, Ciara Conway is welcoming news that 65 new jobs are to be created in Co. Waterford following a deal between McDonald's Ireland and Dawn Meats.
Dawn Meats, which is based at Carroll's Cross in Co. Waterford has won a five-year contract, worth €300 million, to process up to 18,000 tonnes of Irish beef annually for the international food chain.
"Job creation in Waterford is very welcome, and it's particularly welcome when it's a local company that's providing employment," said Ciara Conway T.D.
"This news is another vote of confidence in the Irish Food Sector. Here in Ireland, and in Waterford in particular, we have the products and the raw ingredients. But very often it's through production processes that we can add value, and help create sustainable employment locally. This expansion at Dawn Meats in Waterford is a perfect example of the sort of job creation that can be achieved through the Irish Food sector.
"It's also a great example of how a local employer is working very successfully with a major global brand - as well as being a huge vote of confidence in, and testament to the quality of Irish beef."
