Sectarianism Prosecutions From Facebook?

Police have threatened to prosecute people who posted sectarian messages on a Facebook page.

Messages left on the PSNI West Belfast page have now been removed but lawyers will examine them to see if there is any basis for prosecution.

A police statement read: "We enjoy communicating with people in many different ways and look forward to continuing with our Facebook pages - a few irresponsible people will not spoil what we have for many others."

Michaela McAreavey Witness Was Held For 77 Days

A key prosecution witness in the trial of two men charged with the murder of a Tyrone newlywed was held for 77 days without a charge.

Raj Theekoy was initially treated as a suspect in the Michaela McAreavey murder case but now the prosecution of his former workmates Avinash Treebhoowoon and Sandip Moneea hinges in part on his evidence.

Although both men deny the murder, Mr Theekoy claims to have seen them leaving the honeymoon suite together.

Defence lawyers called his evidence into question in court in Mauritius today.

Widower John McAreavey is expected to take to the witness stand tomorrow.
