Children's Cancer Charity Appeals For Fundraisers

A charity that gives practical and emotional support to children with cancer has issued an urgent appeal for volunteers.

The NI Cancer Fund for Children has asked the people of Northern Ireland to consider using part of their summer to help raise vital funds, whether by lending a hand at a bag-pack, jumping out of a plane or hosting an event.

Companies can sponsor an event or jump in on the Miles for Smiles fundraising campaign, where participants complete miles on foot, by bike, in water or even abseiling.

Funds will go towards the NI Cancer Fund For Children's £3m redevelopment of its respite centre in Newcastle.

Every week, three children, teenagers or young adults are diagnosed with cancer in Northern Ireland.

A spokesman for the charity said: "Everyone needs to chill out once in a while but this summer, why not put some of that extra time into doing something that really makes a difference?"
