Bombardier Belfast Repeat Order 'Will Boost Economy'
A Belfast aircraft manufacturer has received a boost for the Northern Irish economy with a repeat order for two kinds of aircraft.
Bombardier Aerospace Belfast announced yesterday that it has secured further orders for NetJet’s Challenger 300 Series and Challenger 605 Series aircraft.
The firm, based at Airport Road in Belfast, is responsible for the design and manufacture of the centre fuselage and engine nacelles for the Challenger 605 aircraft, and the centre fuselage for the Challenger 300 business jet.
A Northern Ireland Executive spokesman said the agreement was the largest business aircraft sale in Bombardier’s history and would help to sustain jobs in its Northern Ireland operations.
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster welcomed the announcements, saying: “Bombardier’s agreement with NetJet is a tremendous endorsement of the technological expertise and capability available in Northern Ireland and signals the continued success of this multinational corporation. Invest NI has been working closely with Bombardier and other aerospace companies to support growth and ensure that the sector remains internationally competitive. The Northern Ireland Advanced Composites and Engineering Centre (NIACE), which opened earlier this year, will help provide such growth opportunities and help to advance the development of innovative technologies across a range of industries.”

Bombardier shelves CSeries project
Aircraft manufacturer Bombardier has shelved its planned 110 to 130-seater CSeries airliner as it shifts resources to work on regional jet and turboprop aircraft. Bombardier announced that "present market conditions do not justify the launch of the CSeries jet at this time".

Bombardier Secures Largest C Series Order
Bombardier has secured it largest C Series order from Delta Air Lines. The American airline has agreed to acquire 75 CS100 aircraft with the option for 50 more. The order is valued at approximately $5.6 billion (£3.84bn). The firms CSeries wings are made at its site in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
