Da Vinci Drawings On Show In Belfast

Ten drawings by Leonardo Da Vinci will go on show tomorrow in Northern Ireland.

National Museums Northern Ireland said the Renaissance master's works had been selected to show the "extraordinary scope" of his interests, from engineering to botany to mapmaking.

It is the first time these drawings will go on display in Northern Ireland.

The museums' statement read: "Almost all Leonardo's great projects were never completed and it is through his drawings, such as the magnificent examples included in this exhibition, that we gain a greater understanding of his remarkable achievements."

The free temporary exhibition in the Art 4 room of the Ulster Museum will kick off tomorrow at noon with a £2 lecture by Martin Clayton, Senior Curator of Prints and Drawings at the Royal Collection.

Booking is essential for the lecture - visit www.nmni.com/um or call 02890440000.

The exhibition runs until August 27 and there will also be a range of events with a Leonardo Da Vinci theme.
