Owners Of Nightclub Fined

The owners of a Portrush holiday homes park was fined a total of £2,000 after dumping demolition waste without a licence.

Cloughorr Investments owns the Golf Links holiday homes park off Bushmills Road in the north coast town.

In August last year, officers from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency found waste brick, concrete, metal, breeze blocks, fabric, tarmac, ceramics, plastics, piping and electrical cabling on the Golf Links site.

The materials had come from demolition works at Kellys night club next door, also owned by Cloughorr Investments.

The company had no waste management licence and there was no exemption in force permitting waste on the site.

Cloughorr pleaded guilty at North Antrim Magistrates Court on Friday, and was fined under the Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997.

As well as the £2,000 fine it was ordered to pay £37 costs.
