Water Improvement Roadworks For Summer
NI Water has announced upgrading programmes to systems in Swatragh, Omagh and east Belfast.
The body will pour £1.6m into improving wastewater treatment in the Swatragh village area of county Londonderry over the next year.
New treatment technology being installed at the Swatragh plant as of next week will also improve water quality in the nearby Knockoneill river.
Consent Solutions is the contractor for this project with RPS providing design and technical support.
Car parking spaces will be reduced in Scarff's Entry, Kevlin Avenue, Omagh, while NI Water and its contractor Lowry Bros Ltd replace 80 metres of sewer that has collapsed.
NI Water said the work would reduce the risk of sewer flooding and help the system meet future growth.
Over the summer, NI Water and its contractor Farrans Construction will upgrade the watermains network in the Upper Newtownards Road area of east Belfast.
The last stage in a £4m overhaul, the work will begin on July 2 and is scheduled to end by September.
In a statement, NI Water thanked road users and said the work was planned for the summer months to reduce disruption.
As a new water main is being installed on North Road, traffic going towards Bloomfield Road will be diverted via Beersbridge Road.
For more information about bus services affected, call Translink on 02890 666630.
NI Water said "every effort" would be made to disrupt travellers as little as possible.
