Antrim Win Eleventh Successive Ulster Hurling Title
Antrim defeated Derry by 18 points yesterday to win their eleventh Ulster Hurling title in a row.
After an early lead due to an eighth-minute goal from Conor Carson, Casement Park saw the Saffrons glide to victory with a score of 3-18 to Derry's 0-9.
It was a far cry from their slaughter at the hands of Limerick last week, when they exited from the All-Ireland Championship.
Antrim's starting team included seven members of the All-Ireland Club winning Loughgiel Shamrocks.
Shane McNaughton and Eddie McCloskey hit late goals as Derry's Mark Craig and Michael Warnock were sent off.
Derry were competing in their first Ulster final since 2003 and had not lifted the trophy since 2001.
Liam Hinphey and Ruairi Convery were trying hard for Derry but Antrim were easily winning the game despite rarely having to get out of second gear.
Oak Leaf keeper Darrell McDermott saved repeated goals but as Derry tired, Antrim cruised on.
Shane McNaughton hit the back of the net in the 64th minute and Eddie McCloskey brought in a third goal in the closing stages of the game.
Derry were not helped by having to play with two men down.
Craig was red-carded following a clash with Liam Watson, and Warnock was sent off for a late pull on Eddie McCloskey.

DERRY WIN OVER SLUGGISH ANTRIM
IN the All-Ireland second round qualifier at Casement, it was a lacklustre Derry side which managed to secure a three-point victory over an equally lacklustre Antrim. The game, which held lots of potential to entertain, failed to come up with the goods for the 10,000 strong crowd on Saturday in Casement Park.
