Belfast City Hall Screen To Show Olympics Closing Ceremony
The screen outside Belfast City Hall where sports coverage has played throughout the Olympics will be the site of a celebration party this weekend.
As Northern Ireland celebrates the success of local athletes in rowing and boxing among other sports, the screen will show the Olympic closing ceremony.
Music and entertainment for the whole family will be laid on in the City Hall grounds - with a Brazilian theme to match the handover to the Rio Olympics in 2016.
Arrive from 7.30 for samba dancers, fire performers, flag dancers and carnival drummers, and come 9pm join four billion people around the world to watch the closing and handover ceremony.
The closing ceremony of the Olympic Games will be titled 'A Symphony of British Music' to celebrate British music over the last 50 years. Among artists rumoured to be performing on the night are the Spice Girls, The Who, George Michael and One Direction.
The ceremony will include the march of the athletes - with all the athletes coming together rather than marching for their countries - to symbolise bringing the world together.
Lord Mayor of Belfast Alderman Gavin Robinson took time out from practicing his carnival drumming to invite people down.
He said: "On Sunday evening, the grounds of City Hall will come alive and I'd encourage everyone to come down to join in the fun and share in the excitement."
The ceremony will finish at midnight - anyone wishing to stay until the end is reminded to plan their journey home in advance.
