Man in hospital after Co Down assault
A man in his 50s is being treated in hospital today following an attack at his home in Co Down last night.
At around midnight, a gang of three or four masked men burst into the house on the Armagh Road in Newry. Two of the men were armed with baseball bats and a third had a knife.
While the victim's son, who is in his 20s, managed to escape from the house, his father was struck on the head with a bat and sustained a stab wound to his side.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Man Jailed In Connection With Annahilt Cannabis Farm
The PSNI has welcomed the sentencing of a man at Craigavon Crown Court in connection with a cannabis farm disovered in Annahilt in February, 2023. Clive Weir, from the Annahilt area, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and 18 months on licence.

Man Dies After Bus Fall In Belfast
Detectives are investigating the death of an 80-year-old man who fell from a bus in Belfast. Police have said that they believe the man was travelling on a 2J Translink Metro bus service at around 11:15am on Friday, 08 November, when he suffered a fall as the bus travelled along Royal Avenue, near it's junction with North Street.

Man Extradited From Ireland To Face Serious Charges
A 33-year-old man has been extradited from Northern Ireland to the Republic of Ireland to face serious charges. The man is accused of assault causing harm, coercive control, contravention of a safety order, theft, and possession of a weapon. The alleged offences occurred in the Monaghan area between 2020 and 2021.
