Guns And Ammunition Found In BMW

A 52-year-old man has been arrested and two guns seized on the road between Belfast and Dublin.

Police stopped a BMW car near Hillsborough, Co Down, yesterday evening as part of a surveillance operation linked to an investigation into dissident republicans, and took the man in for questioning about the guns and some ammunition that was also seized.

A number of west Belfast properties were also searched.

Codie Family 'Struggling' After Attack

The owners of a dog that was put down at the weekend after being set on fire in a brutal attack have said their children are "struggling" to come to terms with the death of their pet.

Natalie and Martin Agnew said their young children were upset and one was not sleeping, since the attack.

But they said the support they had received from around the world after the attack on Codie, a collie, was "the only thing getting us through this".

A police investigation is continuing and two people who were arrested in connection with the attack have been released pending further inquiries.

Fashion And Rock Music Unite For Charity Gig

Fashion and music will unite next month to raise funds for NI Cancer Fund for Children and The Brian Tumour Charity - Danielle McGriskin Fund.

Lisburn clothes stores Vanilla Boutique and Style Gallery, and Enigma of Moira, will present their autumn/winter 2012 collections at the Fashion Rocks event on October 25.

The show, held at Moira's Tannery restaurant, will be followed by The Red Hot Roosters and Alicia Karr, the UK’s official P!nk tribute act.

The event is being organised by Danielle McGriskin and her family. Since she was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of 14 last year, Danielle has made it her goal to raise funds for research and provide awareness of brain tumours.

NICFC fundraiser, Briege Price said: "NI Cancer Fund for Children has provided practical and emotional support to the McGriskin family, particularly to Danielle's younger sister Rebecca who is a member of the sibling group."

Tickets can be obtained from The Tannery, Vanilla Boutique, The Style Gallery or Enigma, or by calling Amanda on 07795830669.
