£300k Road-Surfacing For Cookstown
Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy has announced a new, £300k major resurfacing scheme to be undertaken on Drum Road Cookstown next week.
The work is due to begin on 1 October 2012 between Sweep Road and the Pomeroy Road.
The majority of the work will be completed using lane closures in order to "help minimise any inconvenience to the travelling public and local businesses", according to the Executive.
Minister Kennedy said: "This 1.3km resurfacing scheme, which is being carried out in conjunction with the ongoing £750k widening of Derryloran Bridge, will improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on this important trunk route between Cookstown and Omagh."
Lane closures will begin on 1 October and will continue until the expected completion date of 12 November 2012.
The Executive has also warned a full closure of the Drum Road will be required for a few days to allow final surfacing.
The closures will be phased over two stages to "minimise disruption to through traffic."
Traffic diversions will be via the Sandholes Road and Dungannon Road for one closure and via the Flo Road and Orritor Road for the second closure.
A statement from the Executive read: "Roads Service has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys."
