Minister launches 2003 Golden Cow Youth Games

Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Angela Smith, today praised the public private partnership which has been forged to enable the success of the Golden Cow Youth Games to continue.

The Minister was speaking at the House of Sport in Belfast where she was launching the annual multi-sport event for young people which this year will see more than 2,700 boys and girls take part in 24 different sports categories.

She said: “Behind every successful event, there is always a dedicated team working hard to ensure that the big day goes ahead without a hitch. They are the unsung heroes without whom it just wouldn’t happen at all.

The Golden Cow Youth Games will be held on 10 May 2003. It is organised by a Project Board comprising representatives from the Sports Council for Northern Ireland, Belfast City Council, the Queen’s University of Belfast, the governing bodies of sport and the title sponsors, Golden Cow.
