Milligan movie gets Belfast première
A movie based on a Spike Milligan comic novel is to be released nationwide following its première in Belfast yesterday.
Puckoon is a satire set in the 1920's about a village literally divided in two by the partition of Ireland.
It was mostly filmed in Northern Ireland and the border counties of the Irish Republic and stars among others, Sean Hughes, Elliot Gould, Richard Attenborough, and Griff Rhys-Jones.
Puckoon was Milligan's debut novel, first published in 1963.
Yesterday's charity première was held at the Odyssey Arena to raise money for Barnardos, with the film going on general release tomorrow.
