Family Escapes Injury In Arson Attack

Alliance Strangford MLA Kieran McCarthy has expressed his outrage after a family escaped an arson attack on their home on Lenamore Park in Newtownards in the early hours of Friday.

Police Officers and neighbours helped rescue the mother and three children. It is the third attack on their home in recent weeks which are believed to be sectarian in nature.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: "I am disgusted that somebody would put the lives of this family at risk. Whoever started this fire should be ashamed of themselves.

"My thoughts and support go out to this family after such a traumatic experience.

"I would like to praise the actions of the police and neighbours who put themselves at risk to help rescue the family.

"If anybody has any information about this arson attack then I would urge them to contact the police."
