Jobs Announcements Welcomed At Stiefel In Sligo
Sligo Senator Marc Mac Sharry has welcomed confirmation of a €10 million investment by GlaxoSmithKline in the Stiefel plant in Sligo.
"This announcement follows several years of hard work by the management and staff at Stiefel and by state agencies," said Senator Mac Sharry.
"It is a significant vote of confidence in Sligo and particularly in the skills and dedication of the workers at this plant. I want to pay tribute to the team at Stiefel who have shown great strength and commitment over the past number of years. Their hard work and their perseverance have made this investment possible.
"I am hopeful that this investment will lead to further job creation on top of the 120 posts that will be retained at the plant."

250 Jobs Lost In Sligo
Some 250 jobs have been lost in Sligo after a medical company announced it was to begin winding down its operations. The 250 people employed at Stiefel Laboratories have been told that the company would close by the end of 2013.

£3.3m Scheme Addresses Long-Term Unemployment
SDLP Derry City Councillor Brian Tierney has welcomed the announcement of a £3.3m scheme to up-skill young Derry people who are in long term unemployment. Funding for the Community Work Programme has been delivered by the Social Investment Fund, it was announced at a launch in the Greater Shantallow Area Partnership office.

Technical And Engineering Firm To Create 100 New Jobs In Sligo
A technical and engineering firm has announced it is to create 100 new jobs in Sligo. LotusWorks has confirmed it will create 50 new jobs over the next six months and will also recruit another 50 by the end of 2017. Fine Gael TD for Sligo-Leitrim, Tony McLaughlin, welcomed the announcement.

Minister Welcomes 175 Jobs For Sligo
The Minister for Small Business, John Perry TD, has welcomed the announcement by Abbott that it is to invest €85million in the expansion of its Sligo pharmaceutical facility with the creation of up to 175 jobs. The expansion is being made with the support of the Irish Government through IDA Ireland.
