Car License Returned Over NI Public Transport
A judge has given a disqualified driver back his licence due to the poor quality of Northern Ireland’s public transport network.
Geoffrey Falconer, 48 from Drumahoe, was banned from driving for 10 years in 2007.
But his solicitor managed to argue that inadequacies of the bus and train network made it difficult for his client’s commute to work.
Judge Barney McElholm granted the application with immediate effect, meaning Mr Falconer can now apply for a provisional licence.

Two foreign nationals have been arrested following police discovery of a suspected sham marriage in Dungannon.
The 28-year-old Pakistani man and a 42-year-old Polish woman were due to get married at Dungannon Council offices at 13:00 yesterday.
But UK Border Agency officers intervened before the ceremony could take place.
The pair were questioned separately and were subsequently arrested.
The Polish woman's bridesmaid and a local man acting as the groom’s witness were also arrested.
Both bride and groom could face jail or deportation if found guilty of breaking immigration law.

A woman whose dog was hanged by its own lead has called for tougher sentencing.
