Man Tied Up During Robbery

A man has been tied up during a robbery at Connswater Shopping Centre.

The incident saw a substantial amount of money stolen from a shop at the east Belfast shopping complex.

At 19:30 on Sunday a man was confronted by two other men in the car park and made to take them back to his shop.

They forced him to open a safe and large sum of money was taken.

The man was then tied up before the robbers fled.

Police said the robbers were dressed in dark clothing and had their faces disguised with scarves.

The employee was left badly shaken but was not injured.

Orange Hall In Arson Attack

Police are investigating an arson attack on Glenavy Orange Hall in Main Street Crumlin.

At around 03:40, police say two tyres were set against the front door of the building and set alight.

Subsequently, damage was caused to the door, while smoke damage was caused to the interior.

Police are appealing for anyone who noticed any suspicious activity or who has any information to contact police on 0845 600 8000.

Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Permission Granted For Newtownards Shopping Development

Planning permission has been granted for a major retail development near in Newtownards.

Environment Minister Alex Attwood granted the permission, which will see the £50m development at the historic Castlebawn site go ahead.

The plans for the 20,000 square metre development have been in the pipeline for seven years.

Boys Assaulted By Group Of Men

Two teenage boys have been assaulted by a group of men who travelled in three cars.

The 13-year-old and 14-year-old were attacked in the East Link Road area of Dundonald on Saturday evening.

Three men got out of each of the three cars and assaulted the boys close to the entrance to Moat Park.

One of the men is described as being in his mid 20s, approximately 5'9" tall, with short cropped hair and black and red tattoos on both arms. He was wearing light grey tracksuit bottoms and possibly a tank top.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of Brian McIlhagga
A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Brian McIlhagga. A gang of masked men dragged the 42-year-old victim from a house in the Riverview Park area in Ballymoney on 05 January 2015. He was beaten and shot in a paramilitary-style attack.
