Three Men Questioned Over McKay Murder

Police continue to question three men who were arrested following the murder of Danny McKay in Newtownabbey.

Detectives are investigating the murder of the 36-year-old, who was shot six times at his home in the Longlands area last Thursday night.

It is thought the police are responding to a potential drugs link to the murder, and are reported to be investigating potential dissident republican involvement.

The news follows the arrest of a 41-year-old and a 50-year-old man in connection with the murder on Saturday. The third man was arrested yesterday.

On Thursday evening, Danny McKay, who is the father of a 10-year-old child, was shot six times as he sat on his sofa in his living room. Mr McKay died during the incident, which is thought to have directly involved at least two men.

Now, police are asking anyone who saw a silver Volkswagen Bora involved in the incident to contact them.

The car had been stolen by five masked men in the New Lodge area. Shortly after stealing the vehicle, it is thought they used the car to carry out the murder.

It was later found burnt out in Ardmoulin Place in west Belfast.

Police have also appealed for anyone who may have witnessed a dark coloured saloon car being driven in a suspicious manner in the Longlands area during the days before Mr McKay's murder.
