Man Charged With Attacking Pensioner
A man has been charged with attacking a pensioner in Belfast.
The incident occurred in Abetta Parade as a 37-year-old man entered the house of a 70-year-old man, attacked him and tied him up.
The man has been charged with burglary, false imprisonment and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He is also charged with stealing the pensioner’s car.
The victim’s house was ransacked and his keys stolen. The man then made off in his silver Mitsubishi Carisma.
The accused has also been charged over a domestic incident which occurred earlier at a house in the Greenville Road area of east Belfast.
The complete list of charges brought against the accused totals two counts of false imprisonment, two counts of theft, one of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.
The man has also been charged with having a blade in public and possession of class A drug.
The accused is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates court today.
Police are keen to speak to a taxi driver who dropped off someone in Union Street in Belfast city centre at around 14:30 on Sunday.
The taxi was a blue Ford Mondeo with a taxi sign on the roof.
The pensioner's car has still not been found.
Police are asking anyone with information about to contact police on 0845 600 8000 or speak to the independent charity, Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Man arrested over Electoral Office fraud
A 58-year-old man from Co Tyrone has been arrested and charged following a police investigation into irregularities at an Electoral Office in the west of the province. Nelson Cheung: Man Charged For Perverting The Course Of Justice
Police investigating the murder of Nelson Cheung have charged a man with perverting the course of justice. The man, 24, has also been charged with possession of class B drugs. He is due to appear in court on 2 June. Mr Cheung, 65, was killed after being stabbed on the Claddy Road in Randalstown on 8 January.

Man Dies In Co L'Derry House Fire
A man aged in his 50s has died in a house fire in Magherafelt, Co L'Derry An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire at a house on Highfield Road, however police said that they don't believe the fire was suspicious. The man's identity has not yet been released.

Accused man claimed he 'did not mean to kill wife'
A civilian PSNI employee has appeared before Ballymena Magistrates Court in Co Antrim today accused of murdering his wife. The court heard that when charged yesterday 46-year-old Adrian Baird of Loughloughlan Road in Broughshane said that he "did not mean to kill his wife".

Man Charged Following Police Chase In West Belfast
A 70-year-old man has been charged with a number of driving offences following a police chase in west Belfast. It is believed officers tried to stop a car driving erratically in the Glen Road area on Wednesday, 07 February. The driver failed to stop and a short pursuit ensued.
