Belfast city centre hit by security alerts

A number of security alerts are causing major traffic disruption in and around Belfast.

Several buildings in the city centre including Castlecourt have been evacuated.

Belfast City and International Airports have also been affected following a number of telephoned bomb warnings.

The disruption follows the temporary closure of the rail line between Belfast Central and Whiteabbey train stations because of a number of suspicious objects were found.

These later turned out to be hoaxes.

Pedestrian Hit By Lorry In Belfast City Centre
Police are appealing for information after a woman was struck by a lorry in Belfast city centre. The incident happened in the Wellwood Street area at around 8am on Tuesday, 21 November. The pedestrian has been taken to hospital and the area remains sealed off.

NIFRS Record 40% Drop In Bonfire Incidents
The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service has recorded the lowest number of bonfire related incidents in the past four years. Figures released pertaining to callouts on Thursday 11 July, as the loyalist community celebrated by lighting pyres across the country, show a 40% fall in incidents when compared with 2018.

Six Die As Belfast Flight Crashes In Cork
A Manx-2 jet from George Best Belfast City Airport has crashed on landing in Cork in a tragedy that was reported just before 10am on Thursday. There were ten passengers and two crew members on board the plane which was reported to have caught fire after the crash.

Appeal For Missing Man In Belfast
Police are appealing for help in the search for missing man Robert Darling. The PSNI branch in Belfast City Centre is leading the search for the 40-year-old. Robert is around 5ft 8" tall and of medium build. Anyone who sees him or knows where he is has been asked to contact PSNI on 101 - the incident number you need is 874 21/11.
